Youth for TPNW are excited to present the 3rd annual Youth MSP for the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.

Youth for TPNW, together with our partner organizations, is thrilled to host the third Youth MSP alongside the main Meeting of States Parties (MSP) for the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW). From March 3rd to 7th, 2025, we will gather an inspiring group of advocates, policy experts, campaigners, UN officials, parliamentarians, academics, and creatives from across civil society and governments to discuss the progress of the treaty, the state of disarmament, and non-proliferation, while planning the crucial next steps.

We are excited to ensure that youth voices and leadership are at the forefront of these discussions!

This year, we will run a dynamic program of events throughout the week, including the 3rd Youth MSP Conference. Last year, in November 2023, we brought together over 130 passionate young advocates from around the world, and we can’t wait to do it again—this time in New York City and online—with engaging workshops, inspiring talks, advocacy sessions, and collaborative planning.

Delegate applications are now open, and we are eager to hear from passionate young advocates like you! While we hope to offer some financial support, we kindly expect delegates to contribute to their participation (e.g., travel costs). We will share more information with accepted delegates soon regarding funding.

If you’re curious about what it’s like to be a delegate or the impact of Youth for TPNW at the MSP, be sure to check out last year’s program and impact report! We can’t wait to welcome you.

Applications are now open to be a delegate for the Youth MSP Conference, taking place in New York City and online in March 2025. Once delegates are selected in early 2025, they will collaborate on creating a policy document, an advocacy campaign, and any other initiatives they wish to develop as a global youth group. Delegates will also be encouraged to raise awareness about the TPNW and nuclear disarmament within their home countries, engaging young people in the movement.

The Youth MSP Conference will feature a full day program, in the New York. There will be social and community activities planned for the days before and after, along with advocacy actions throughout the week. This structure allows delegates to engage flexibly with the main MSP proceedings. A highlight of the conference will be the presentation of youth-driven policy proposals to the main MSP conference. The event will be fully hybrid, offering the option to join remotely. Following the conference, we will continue to engage with delegates through follow-up events, feedback sessions, and online meetings to maintain momentum and collaboration.

Applications to join the Youth MSP as a delegate are now open. If you want to get involved with the organising team or with Youth for TPNW more broadly, fill in our get involved form and we would love to hear from you. We chat one-on-one with every new person who wants to get involved so there is plenty of time for questions and conversation.

The Youth MSP is a conference taking place on line and in person on March, 2025. Many delegates will be joining us fully online, while others will join us in New York City, in the United States of America.

If you are joining us online, expect livestreams of keynote speeches, tailored workshops, panel discussions, conversations about policy, and an open discussion about the future of youth engagement with the TPNW. All delegates will be added to a Slack workspace (an online community hub) where information (including a programme of events in the lead up to the MSP) will be shared and they will be able to connect with fellow delegates!

If you are joining us in person in New York City, expect a full day of workshops, discussion, talks, and networking as well as wider advocacy and social activity planned throughout the week. We also will be supporting delegates to take advocacy actions and/or arrange meetings around the time of the MSP with their political representatives. Last year, we were able to provide 2 nights accommodation as well as a per diem toward the cost of public transport and meals – we hope to do the same again this year.

A full programme will be published here and to delegates in the coming weeks.

Last year’s 130 delegates were selected based on applications to Youth for TPNW from a highly competitive field. The delegates come from all across the world, with 5 different continents represented, and bring expertise in humanitarian law, non-proliferation policy, climate activism, creative campaigning, and communications, to name just a few.

The delegates are all aged between 18-30.

Other delegates to the event will include young representatives from some of our partner organisations. If you are a young person planning to be in New York at the time of the Youth MSP, please get in touch if you would like to join us for part of the day.

Get in touch and we’ll be happy to chat. No question is too big or too small! We’re still working on the programme and details for the event so we might not have all the answers yet, but we’ll be happy to help.
