Youth for TPNW seeks a world free from nuclear weapons. We bring together, platform and amplify the voices of young people in creating this world.
We do this in a number of ways, and we are always open to new ways of working if you’ve got any ideas. You can get in touch with us here. We work collaboratively with a number of other groups and campaigns.
In 2022, we ran the first Youth Meeting of State Parties for the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, both in Vienna and online. This year we are running the second Youth MSP, as well as supporting youth advocates year-round to raise their voices and use their power in pursuit of the abolition of nuclear weapons.
We write policy briefings, articles and think pieces which shape the narrative about nuclear weapons and disarmament. We put together advocacy actions like letter-writing campaigns, divestment drives, and social media pushes, putting pressure on states to work towards disarmament.
We provide support and advice to young people seeking a more peaceful world and those wondering about the best ways to do youth activism. We create educational materials for those seeking to learn more about nuclear weapons. And we provide a platform for young disarmament activists to meet their peers from around the world.
Youth for TPNW is structured into a series of working groups, which each take responsibility for a certain area of our work. We are youth-led: everyone in our steering group is under the age of 30.
Each working group has one or two coordinators – you can read more about them here. They contribute to weekly steering group meetings, where we set the direction and strategy of Youth for TPNW.
We’re still pretty new and finding our feet, but after the first MSP, we hope to fall into a pattern of refreshing the Steering Group on an annual basis.
